puppets4/1/2006: Performing at PuppetLOVE!

After a year off, PuppetLOVE! will once again take the stage for a night of mature, diverse puppet performances. I have been in this festival several times in the past, once with my puppet creation, DJ Organik, and another time with the Monkey Thump Puppet Collective (that was the notorious, rated X Monkey Du Sade, complete with BDSM and ravaging banannas doing the can can). This year I’ll be performing a shadow puppet work-in-progress with Christine Marie (Shadowlight), Mia Rovegno (Hummingbird Works) and others. Playing with shadows is always fun, and making the puppets, screen, etc. is part of why I love puppetry.

So, come out and see me do puppets one last time before I head East to do that political carnie thang! This show will sell out due to being one night only at the tiny CounterPULSE space.

INFO
PuppetLOVE! brings together the best of West Coast experimental, political and emerging puppetry. Now in our eighth year, we present just one night of outstanding new puppetry work primarily from local Bay Area puppet artists. This years mini-festival highlights new directions in shadow puppetry and object theatre and features a rare apprearance of Bay Areas own Wise Fool Pupept Intervention. Also included will be new short works from Emily Butterfly of the Big Rtadoo Pupept Crew, Chrsitine Marie, Il Teatro Calamari and Signal Light Theatre of Portland Oregon. We also bring you a live puppet auction, intermission food and entertainment by Jerome Waag of Chez Panisse and surprise guests. PuppetLOVE! seeks to challenge the perception of puppetry as artistically insubstantial. Join us as we lead into fantastical worlds filled with lush visual poetry, complex themes, sharp wit and dark humor, The work presented is geared for adults but children are welcome. There will be one segment at the end of the evening that is not appropriate for children and that will be announced.
