Museums Selling Stencil Nation

This is a fun list, submitted to me via Manic D Press, which shows how widespread the stencil/street/urban art movement has affected the art world. The last time I was in SF MOMA shop, I checked out their urban art book section, and had to add a few books to Stencil Nation’s bibliography (just bought two of those books used online yesterday).

This list also shows the quality of the artists involved with the Stencil Nation project, as well as the power of the art form’s varied messages. The book looks great, the work inside covers the spectrum of talent and styles, and hopefully my fan-boy glee leaks out of the pages too.

Here’s the list of museums that have currently ordered the book to sell in their shops:

  • Weisman Art Museum Minneapolis
  • Getty Museum LA
  • MFA Boston
  • National Building Museum DC
  • Berkeley Art Museum
  • Dia Center For The Arts NY
  • Museum Contemporary Art Chicago
  • MOMA NY
  • Norton Simon Museum LA
  • Walker Art Center Minneapolis
  • MOMA SF

While mentioning distribution, Jennifer at Manic D also told me that the book may see distro in Germany and France. Hopefully the book will be on the European continent bookshelves soon!
