My Dear One: 04.06.2008

My dear one,

I carry you to water

anoint your feet with present raining.

My dear one,

I point the sunlight

upon your radiant face –

pour the moonlight over your sleeping frame.

My dear one,

through sandstorms we wander lost

found in the embrace of the shifting path.

My dear one,

our eyes meet yet again

my sweet song showers words down on you –

moans and forms of giving in the Spring time –

seeking blossoms blowing on wind-strewn boughs.

My dear one,

you hold your hand to me, grasping the fingers

that caress the cheek through endless doorways.

(Hold that place in the mind’s heart

where wind shifts through drying clothes.)

My dear one,

a simple bow and a dfferent place

where wells never run dry

and no one goes wanting.

My dear one.

with your smile

another day of paradise

finds time to dance!

Apr 4: Shadows at the Hot Air Music Fest

I will be performing shadows once again for the “Only Jealousy of Emer,” composed by Lou Harrison. This will be a FREE show at the SF Conservatory of Music, with donations going to the Delancey Street Foundation. We’ll perform during the 3pm to 4pm block of music, at the bottom of the hour according to the lineup on the website.

What is Hot Air Music Festival?

Hot Air Music Festival is the SF Conservatory’s first student-run contemporary music festival. With an 8-hour marathon concert, our goal is to celebrate the SF Conservatory’s connection to the new music world. Students and Alumni will play both the music of their peers, great classics of new music, and the music of our time.

Not Everything Is on the Internet

By Hiya Swanhuyser

Kevin Keating was once known far and wide as the Mission Yuppie Eradication Project; he was accused of keying SUVs in the late 1990s to protest gentrification. Most people thought he was making a complicated point in a humorously dramatic manner, but, of course, opinions varied. In a 1999 San Francisco Chronicle article detailing his arrest and the police ransacking of his home, he was portrayed as a poo-smearing criminal, but even Commander Greg Suhr of the Mission Police Station freely admitted that Keating was “well-read and cerebral.” Don’t you want to see this guy’s art collection? At “Defiant Proclamations,” Keating and other interesting, energetic activists such as muralist Mona Caron and painter Hugh D’Andrade display their political posters. “Radical Posters from the 1960s to the Present” is the show’s subtitle, and other contributors include Jesus Barraza and Melanie Cervantes of Dignidad Rebelde, who have deep roots in the Bay Area’s graphic-arts poster tradition. And word on the cyberstreet is that Vince Dugar has a poster made by 1960s food-freedom group the Diggers.
