| It's always good to get a random holiday off. Though I prefer the holidays that banks don't take off (May Day, Brigid, Yom Kippur), I'll take a free Monday anytime. I found myself up in Northern California, sunning and hiking by the Black Butte Reservoir. Tranquil moments were had, trailblazing up to a butte was enjoyed, and nice strangeness happened quite often. We watched kids massacre an ugly pinata, our hillbilly neighbors got kicked out for vandalizing sate park property. And grandmother wandered around the camp ground with a mumu that had a curvy figure wearing American flag thongs printed on it. And did I mention the food? The amazing chirping birds? The kids playing bocce? Yep, all was good.:::05.03 | ![]() |
| These are my teeth. What started out as a simple filling replacement (who knows how old some of those metal fillings are) ended up a root canal. By looking at this photograph, given to me for free by my dental hygienist (yes, free), you'd think the nasty filling on the bottom left would be the root canal candidate. You're wrong. Think upper right. My dentist guesses that I have weak teeth. Too much sweet iced tea and Dr. Pepper I guess. Anyway, I got gassed up and watched Buckaroo Banzai in the VR goggles while Dr. Hack did the deed. Now my tooth is nerve free and awaiting the permanent crown. And I'm out a buttload of money. Hey, at least I avoided the abscess, the pain and agony that people relate to.:::06.03 | ![]() |
| Marriage,
year one. Dear PseudoBlog, My life continues to be full of amazing
surprises. My wife and best friend, Deborah, supplies endless amounts
of love, support, openness, understanding, and fun. Not to mention
all the other things she enriches my life with. This Tuesday, we wore
our wedding day finest, drove down to the Theater District (Geary St.),
and had a yummy dinner at Millennium. Deborah looked beautiful in her
wedding sari. Afterwards, we came home and cracked into a thawed out
chunk of our organic chocolate wedding cake. It was a bit dry and tasteless,
but we dug in with our fingers and enjoyed feeding each other the icing.
With the first year over, I hope there are many more to go in the future. (Photo

| New York City, 2003. Wandering the mad streets pre-blackout, soaking in sweaty clothes, discussing wonderous things with amigo Jordan. We live in the post-ironic age, where terrorist, urban holes draw tourists, capitalism, and strange graff scrawls. Where hardened New Yorkers tend to look up with a jet flies low, thinking that another attack is near. You can't joke about anything any more because reality is too funny already. Bush's Republicanc in NYC next September, the untruths of corporate media; all of it, chock full of post-irony. Jordan and I see the angels at the end of the bright tunnel. We seek the forms of perfect light, yet live in the 21st century. This limites our visions, but we're connecting with others out there who seek the hum in the void. Won't you join us?:::08.03 | ![]() |
| The Yucatan is really hot this time of year. Deborah and I didn't go to Cancun for the weather, or the beaches and Vegas-style nightlife. We went to protest the WTO/OMC the best way we knew how, creatively. While there, we worked one day on a Mayan god puppet. We also dressed up as gringo American tourists and performed in the streets. Hopefully, we taught a few people about being a consumed consumer. We did manage to take a few overnight trips to see some Mayan ruins. Chitzen Itza was lovely in the morning before the tour buses arrived. No avoiding the people at Tulum. It felt good to learn about ancient culture, while trying to help create an improved future one. We had a good time.:::09.03 | ![]() |
| I've never been an avid consumer of things. I've always avoided the hobbies where you have to spend a lot of money on equipment, and I rarely go shopping for new clothes and things. But I do invest in tools for my artistic leanings, and I just got a new Apple 15 inch Al Powerbook this month. I blew my tax return (I've been waiting months for the new models to come out) on it and a messenger bag to haul it in. I purchased a used MBox months ago too, so I can run ProTools on it. With the new SoundLab, and with Panther 10.3 coming out tomorrow, I'm really excited about pushing my sound skills to the next level. I hope to DJ, produce, and design with the new laptop. Hopefully, I won't neglect this site.:::10.03 | ![]() |
| My time management skills are shot. After getting laid off from my day job Nov. 7, I fell into an extra 40+ hours a week of needing to do something. It's been three years since I was jobless (or should I say, not working at a corporate desk), so I'm taking a break before I begin the job hunt again. That vacuum of time has been filled with volunteering, sleeping late, and obsessing about the Matt Gonzalez campaign. A Green in the Mayoral Run-off, he's caught the buzz of many creative and funky folks in SF. My car, apartment, and jackets wear his yellow sinage. Going against super-rich Newsom, a friend to the downtown/Brown camp, Gonzalez is running a cool and honest campaign for mayor. It's given me something to think and talk about. Things are competitive in SF, as you can see from this sinage on a house in my hood. Matt has the upper hand on enthusiasm, and he may win!:::12.03 | ![]() |
| Ah, that was a good little break from Weblandia. Sorry it's been a while since I wrote/updated this site. Wandered to SC and NC for a few weeks in Dec./Jan. Went to LA last week for 3 days of movies and stencil snapping. Shot this photo somewhere near Los Banos. At a gas station of course. Funny thing about this art, NO PLAYING ON allowed. You'd think a kid would love hanging all over that plastic buffalo. Anyway, I'm in hustling mode now. Trying to get work and work less at the same time, and have fun in between. We'll see what happens to my new life full of mystery and awe. Actually, I'm doing what I used to do at my old job: sitting in front of a machine (a Mac at least), checking em, and working on my own stuff. I'm just not getting paid to do it. Trying to fix that.:::02.04 | ![]() |
| I'm not supposed to be here, so I haven't done much this past month. Well, I am here, and have done stuff. But this month has been spent tinkering with my web sites, working on a few stickers, pondering the future, and looking for the perfect job. What is the perfect job for me? I'm still wondering about that myself. So here I am, sleeping late, reading Gandhi's autobiography, checking ems, and keeping it loose while the jobs are out there. It's hard working all the time. I believe that humans weren't made to sit and click on keyboards all the time. There should be mandatory naps and walks in the corporate world. There should be more time off for thinking and spiritual needs. Imagine what American culture would be like if we all got sabbaticals. Maybe that's why I'm not here right and should be there on break from work. If you get a postcard from me, please let me know where I am. My thumb itches yet the computer calls. Wish you were here. ::: 03.04 | ![]() |
